A nomad's morning
What the long-table crowd actually does between 8am and 10am, and why we built the room around it.
They arrive at different times and do not greet each other, which is the point. By ten there are four laptops, two paper notebooks and one very serious-looking plant.
We designed the long table for this: power along the whole edge, no music before eleven, and a rule that nobody clears your cup while your screen is still open.
The best compliment we get is that somebody forgot they were in a cafe.
