Why we stayed
A guest asked us once why we never expanded to a big city first. This is the honest answer.
The honest answer is that we were not brave, we were slow. Slowness is not a marketing word here; it is a scheduling problem. A room takes about a year to become itself.
We stayed because the alternative was opening ten rooms we could not sit in. A cafe you never sit in is just a vending machine with better lighting.
When we finally did leave Yunnan, we left with a rule: never open a room we would not personally want to spend a rainy Tuesday in.
